- In particular aggressive end brushes -

The company added new types of end brushes into production programme on page 18 of current catalogue. The brushes are produced in a dimensional range, given by case diameter (10 mm, 18 mm, 22 mm, 28 mm). Addition concerning by new type of steel stranded wire with diameter 0,175 mm and by galvanic brass coating. The wire is adapted to the special knitted ties formed into a spatial wave (3 +9 +15 fibers+ 1 braided fiber). Physical properties of the wire: Strength 2600-3000N/mm square confirms the high resistance of these fibers.

It is a very solid and hard wire and its bundling ensures a high efficiency of these brushes in cleaning of extremely dirty surfaces, such as scale or tightly clinging corroded layers, or highly resistant coating layers. Examples include bearing surfaces for matrix joints or other discontinuities in metallic materials while doing various repair works. Here's brushes show higher efficiency the service life compared to end brushes with wavy conventional steel or stainless steel wire. Cannot be used for cleaning aluminum and stainless steel, titanium and so on.

These brushes are produced in two types – pressed in normal size and glued in shortened size. It is obvious to see (Pict. 1 and Pict.2) that the pressed brushes cause more widespread ending of brushes. This deformation is caused by centrifugal forces during hard usage. In the shortened version, which is available for diameters 10 mm and 18 mm, are brushes resistant against deformation, but can withstand temperature up to 85 ° C during constant hard usage. They are particularly useful for working with coolant (lathes, production lines using machines, etc.). On special request can be made end brushes with this type of wire by radial conventional technology.

Brushes with this type of wire show a significantly less breakage of fibers during hard usage.

-TITAN wire-

The company added new types of end brushes into production programme on page 18 of current catalogue. The brushes are produced in a dimensional range, given by case diameter (10 mm, 18 mm, 22 mm, 28 mm). These additional new types concerning small hand brush with a wooden handle and also brush with a shank. On demand it is possible to produce circular brushes and separate rings ranged from 60 mm to 120 mm. Type of brush fillings depends on requirements for surface treatment (cleaning) and semi-finished products made of titanium. Here it is absolutely necessary to use a titanium brush - see our previous publication "Titanium and use brushes." Wire diameter 0.3 mm is formed into a spatial wave with a smaller amplitude and the standard length of wave. Quality of wire is always accompanied by the relevant standard.

The most common use is in aerospace industry and manufacture of bone implants (hip clubs, knee joints, etc.).

Brushes are available to order with delivery date 30 days and the basic markering: TITAN-wire/KART given a refering number, see the chart below. Use these refering numbers in your order.

New packagings

The company KART Ltd. is launching new types of packaging for its products starting from the second quarter of the year 2012. Implementation is gradual with the need to use existing stocks of packaging. Flat shaped box packagings, which are used for circular brushes are complemented with a box cover for small diameter circular brushes. As completely new are introduced cubic box packaging for brushes and brushes potted stem. This measure extends the range of brushes that are available on the market in fixed and unified packaging design. The graphical design of new packagings is in a certified color and the packaging vendor contains all necessary information for traders and clients. Material used for the packagings is a durable "microcardboard", which allows clients to use the container for storage of new or used brushes and prevents from damage or unpacking during transport.

Titanium and usage of brushes.

Industrial usage of titanium is still growing. In certain circumstances titanium can handle all common technological processes, metal cutting, rolling, hauling and welding. A physical chemistry can answer how far a brushing can be used for titanium surface treatment. Stainless steel brushes are widely used for titanium surface treatment. Using a steel brush is completely inappropriate, and it needs to be excluded. But even stainless steel brushes arise a problem with the surface properties of titanium. During brushing small parts of material from fiber brushes may occur incorporation of residues into the surface of the product and eventually cause an electrochemical corrosion. Difference in potential of titanium (in this case cathode) and, for example stainless steel (in this case, anode) can vary between 0.30 to 0.20 V according to the chemical composition of the stainless steel. The effect of the external environment will activate electrochemical cell and its anode will cause corrosion much faster than the cathode. The protective layer of titanium oxide is in the range of about 2 to 3 10 * log (-6). Every time during brushing this layer is eroded. Subsequently, "small" surface corrosion can highly worsen mechanical properties of titanium. How far can we consider corrosion of titanium? All depends on industry, where products from titanium are used, caution in the aerospace, missile and healthcare as well as military technology. Generally, the following rules apply:

  1. In normal conditions, where the parameters of temperature and humidity are out of control, the potential electrochemical cell difference is around 0.25 V. There is the use of brushes with stainless steel fiber containing 18% chromium acceptable (for example, for storage).
  2. In the environment, where the parameters of temperature and humidity are under control (set in the range of values), with the potential differences up to the limit 0.30 V.
  3. In particular demanding conditions of outdoor environment with high humidity and high content of soluble, the potential difference is up to 0.15 V, it is essential to use brushes with wires made of pure titanium.

Conclusion:

To obtain a product with perfect titanium surface after brushing, it is always recommended to use brushes with wire made of pure titanium! Our company is capable to produce and deliver all the basic types of titanium brushes.

Stain steel and use of brushes

Stainless steels are those containing high content of chromium. As standard, the amount of chromium is from 12% to 18%. As content of chromium in the indicated steel gets higher, the lower must be a differential electrochemical potential to iron. Brushing is the usual process of surface treatment and there will always occur incorporation of residues into the surface of the product due to worn down wire of brushes.

This eventually presumes conditions for creation of electrochemical cell (galvanic cell), whose potential difference will depend on the environment, in which the product is processed. The effect will be increased by humidity, higher temperature and salinity environment (content of soluble salts). For stainless steel in comparison with titanium is a danger of deep corrosion much more evident (http://www.corrosion-doctors.org/Forms-pitting/images/pits.jpg) and may result into creation of optical defects on its surface, but also serious consequences in the loss of mechanical properties of the product, leading to its complete destruction. This is applicable for the surface of product, highly pointed to blunt and corner welds!

Conclusion:

For the surface treatment of stainless steel products must be used only brush made of wires, that contain at least 18% of chromium. This prevents from a deep surface corrosion (pitting).

New company product - 001

The new product is a staffed round brush with a steel or stainless steel wire and a mounting nut with M14 thread. The brush is made up of one or two inner rings and thus is given its total thickness. It is fitted for drill using adapter or for angle grinders. Regarding to allowed speed - see the table in the catalogue – it is suitable for an angle grinder with speed control. Total diameter of the brush can be consulted with a client.
